SonicFluxx – Idol
SonicFluxx's 'Idol' is a sinister dark-pop anthem from Las Vegas, industrial beats and theatrical vocals colliding in a club-ready zinger
'Idol' opens with a bassline that feels like a warning. SonicFluxx leans into horror-movie theatrics here, his vocal delivery shifting between whispered menace and full-throated defiance while industrial percussion hammers underneath. The production is brilliantly relentless, all gritty synths and aggressive textures, but there's a hook buried in the chaos that lodges itself in your head and refuses to leave. A track built to make you move and unsettle you at the same time. If your thing is sinister, high-octane electro-pop, you might have just found your new fave artist.
SonicFluxx is an American pop artist based in Las Vegas, raised on church choirs, '90s MTV, and endless Britney and Janet videos. He moved to Los Angeles in 2020 and built his sound through electronic production and deeply personal songwriting, with a performance at OC Pride in 2021 helping launch this chapter. His debut album landed in 2024, followed by a deluxe edition in 2025. This latest era pivots darker, trading atmospheric synths for dancefloor aggression. A proper banger this one.
Maya Mayday – Patchwork
Maya Mayday's 'Patchwork' is a darkly cinematic alt-pop triumph from Finland, metal-fed intensity wrapped in pop hooks that refuse to let go
'Patchwork' stitches together shadows and shimmer. The Finnish duo build their soundscape from heavy, brooding synths that anchor the verse while Roosa Mikkola's vocal floats above, vulnerable one moment, steel-edged the next. There's wit buried in the darkness, clever turns of phrase that catch you mid-listen, and the brilliant production leans into that cinematic sweep without losing its pop centre. The chorus lands with real weight, all that conflict between metal roots and pop ambition resolved into something that works. Brilliant alt-pop, dark-hearted and utterly compelling.
Maya Mayday is the project of songwriter Roosa Mikkola and producer Aleks Toppari, working out of Salo, Finland. The origin story is perfect: a girl who wanted to be a popstar but loved metal, and that collision is exactly what you hear. Their sound sits between comfort and unease, heavy textures softened by pop instincts, storytelling that's sharp without losing its warmth. 'Patchwork' is out now. A proper dark-pop highlight this October, and we'll be watching these two.
Anna Kameneva – Silk Way to Myself
Anna Kameneva's 'Silk Way to Myself' is a shimmering synth pop gem from Dubai, Eastern textures woven through pop hooks that genuinely transport
'Silk Way to Myself' opens on a bed of glittering synths, and that 'lele lele' refrain lands immediately. Anna Kameneva threads Uzbek-inspired melodic patterns through the production, the ancient rhythms of hand-weavers translated into something bright and contemporary. The lyrics trace a personal journey, the Silk Road as metaphor for finding yourself, and there's real weight to the self-discovery here. The hook stays with you, the Eastern flourishes lift it somewhere unexpected, and the whole thing moves with purpose. Shimmering synth pop, warm and wonderfully textured.
Anna Kameneva is a Dubai-based filmmaker, entrepreneur and songwriter, back with us again after 'Marbella' a couple of months ago. She won Best Documentary at the Marbella International Film Festival, and her music draws on that same cinematic sensibility, blending emotional storytelling with atmosphere. This new single was written through a traditional, human-led process, inspired by the art of Uzbek hand-weaving, where weavers develop rhythms at the loom that mirror their inner state. It's a beautiful concept, and the song delivers on it. A genuine groove this one.
Jamie Dickinson – Waking Up
Jamie Dickinson's 'Waking Up' is a warm, emotionally rich synth pop single from Darlington, honest songwriting wrapped in atmospheric production that hits home
'Waking Up' builds slowly, and that's where its power sits. Jamie Dickinson opens on tough as hell, layered synths that really bite before the track widens into something brighter, the production warming as the emotional stakes rise. It's a song about short relationships and situationships, about the clarity that comes when the fog lifts. The melody has real patience, a Weeknd-style approach, and doesn't rushing toward its payoff, and when the release finally arrives it earns every second. There's vulnerability in the vocal, but confidence too. Warm, uplifting synth pop, tender and beautifully paced.
Jamie Dickinson is a singer-songwriter from Darlington, returning only a couple of months after 'Clarity'. He started singing at three and moved into songwriting and production through his teens. He's currently studying for his MA in Songwriting at Berklee's online campus, and earlier this year released his debut EP 'I The Beginning', built entirely from his home studio with collaborators across the globe. BBC Introducing and Spark Sunderland have both played his music. More of this please, Jamie. It's great.
