The Burton D'Agostini Procedure – Strange Condition
The Burton D'Agostini Procedure's 'Strange Condition' is a headphone-ready dream pop gem from Grand Rapids, psychedelic textures and the new halloween classic we need this year
The Burton D'Agostini Procedure know exactly what they're doing with stereo space. 'Strange Condition' opens with guitars that swirl and separate, panning wide before the vocals settle in the centre, intimate and slightly distant at once. As with their other stuff, there's that familiar 60s psychedelic shimmer running through it, but the production is sharp and contemporary. The melody moves slow, the big groove works brilliantly, and the atmospherics add texture brilliantly. The chorus is the standout here; it blooms outward, layers stacking without crowding the mix. It earns its Halloween-adjacent release date too, there's something unsettling in the beauty here. It's gorgeous.
Hot on the heels of the stunning 'Float Over Here' which we recently featured, Jeff Burton and John D'Agostini are the duo behind The Burton D'Agostini Procedure'. Both have spent years supporting touring bands, and that experience shows in how confidently they handle arrangement and production. They're based in Grand Rapids, pulling influences from 60s psychedelia through to modern alternative, building a sound designed for close listening. 'Strange Condition' is out now and we fully expect this album to be an Autumn highlight.
Elias Dream – The Love I Hide
Elias Dream's 'The Love I Hide' is a heart-wrenching cinematic ballad, Hammond organ warmth and confession delivered with devastating honesty
There's guilt in every note of this one. 'The Love I Hide' puts you right there in the scene: a man lying beside someone who loves him completely while his heart aches for someone else. Elias Dream builds it slowly, intimate piano giving way to that signature Hammond organ, warm and churchy and full of weight. The vocal sits close, almost confessional, and the production keeps space around it so every word lands. And that chorus? It lifst the whole thing, taking personal shame into something cinematic without ever losing the rawness underneath. Gorgeous dream pop balladry, tender and honest.
Elias Dream is a storytelling artist from Germany, back with us again after 'Serra' earlier this month. His approach blends melodic vocal work with rock influences and film-score production, songs that unfold like short films with scenes and turning points. He handles his own mixing and mastering, and that Hammond B3 with Leslie is his signature, a warm organic contrast against modern textures. A real beauty this one.
